Marcia S. Cohen

Marcia S. Cohen

Marcia Cohen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Roosevelt University of Chicago, a Masters’s degree in Music Composition from Northwestern University, and received her Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1984. Since becoming a member of The Florida Bar, she has practiced almost exclusively in labor and employment law to concentrate on employment discrimination and sexual harassment. She has the distinction of having had a successful case before the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Cohen currently serves as Legal Counsel to the National Organization for Women (NOW).

Marcia Cohen has been a singer since childhood and took part in high school and college choirs. Since 2005 and thereafter, she began singing in various Paris clubs while living part-time in Paris. Upon her return to her St. Petersburg home, she joined the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association and has sung since then in several local venues, including the Monday night jazz jams at the Hangar restaurant. She misses the Hangar and Cafe Osmoz in Paris, but the pandemic has closed those music venues. Fortunately, her Paris music friends connected her with pianist Sami Scot in Chicago, whose vocal jams on Zoom have made it possible for her to continue singing before an audience of other vocalists.
