Aiko Doden
Aiko Doden is a journalist, and currently the Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies, Johns Hopkins University. She is also a Japan Foundation Indo-Pacific Program Research Fellow. Until August 2024, she was a Senior Commentator on international affairs and a presenter at NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster. She has expertise in reporting and commenting on a wide range of issues from hard security to human security. She specializes in international affairs focusing on Japan and the US, Southeast Asia, democracy and civic movement, gender, education, and human rights. She was a correspondent in Thailand covering ASEAN countries extensively including over 50 visits to Myanmar.
Ms Doden is on the board of trustees at Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company. SOAS(School of Oriental and African Studies) at the University of London, has appointed her to be the Professor of Practice at the Department of Politics and International Studies: Centre of International Studies and Diplomacy in 2023. She holds an MA in international affairs from Columbia University, New York, USA, and a BA in foreign studies from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. She spent her childhood in London, UK.
